Ironically, knowing what a regular or semi solid player
Now, to start off, lets go into an example hand that I often use against regulars because I know how they’ll usually react:

Getting Inside the Head of a Regular Hand Example #1:
Hero (out of position): A10
Villain (in position): Unknown
Now, what does a regular (aka villain) expect you to do if you really had a 10? He would expect you to check to him and try to slow play it. Well, here’s what I almost always do in this situation: instantly bet pot. Why? If you bet pot on this kind of flop you won’t be taken seriously. There’s a good chance he’s going to raise you here since he’s in position. You instantly call.
if you take a while and act like you are thinking about it, that’s exactly how a regular or decent player will interpret it, he’ll think you’re “acting” like it’s a hard decision. If you instantly call, it’s going to be interpreted more as you having a medium/low pocket pair.
Turn: 5
You’re first to act, so what do you do when this card falls? Bet a standard 4/5 the size of the pot. Instantly call again.
The river card is often tough in this kind of hand. Betting 4/5 the pot usually doesn’t work, because unless he’s tilting against you he is unlikely to push on the river when bluffing.
the best thing to do usually on the river is to bet some ridiculous amount like ΒΌ of the pot size if not 1/5 or smaller. Either he’s going to raise you for a final attempt at the bluff, he’s just going to call and it’ll turn out he really did have a medium pocket pair or perhaps a high pocket pair, or he will just fold. But as you can see, there’s a better chance you’ll make some extra money by making the above play on the river. How am I so sure? Click here to find out.
